Follett expands operations to Singapore through public libraries and local book club activity.
McHenry, Ill-June 8, 2011-Despite the changing landscape and ever tightening budgets facing schools in Illinois and across the United States, Follett, the world’s leading education supplier is expanding its operations to Singapore. After much anticipation, Follett is excited to announce it has secured a spot on the Singapore National Library Board panel of vendors. For nearly a year, Follett has worked to demonstrate it can enhance the world renowned library system’s collection and support its vision of lifelong learning. The board was enticed by the level of service Follett guarantees and the rich history a family business offers. As part of the tender requirements, Follett International set up a physical office in Singapore—Follett Singapore Pte. Ltd.
This development is a game changer for Follett because each year the Singapore National Library Board spends $34 million on materials. Follett is not guaranteed any specific portion of their generous budget; however, Follett executives anticipate the board's investment in the Illinois based company will be scaled as Follett delivers on the promises made during the months of the tender process. As part of its commitment to the Singapore community, Follett is also launching a book club. Students, parents, and teachers throughout Singapore will be able to place orders for popular preK-12 English titles online and pick up their orders at the Follett Singapore bookstore. Through Follett’s relationships with 48,000 publishers, Singaporeans will find more books for every grade and interest level.
President of Follett International, Zachary Colandrea says, “As Follett expands its footprint around the world, the vote of confidence from the National Library Board will change the way Follett is viewed as a company in the region. Additionally, a spot on the panel of vendors positions Follett for other opportunities across the region and within Singapore’s Ministry of Education.”
On-camera, phone, or written interviews with Follett’s executives and education experts as well as photos of the Follett Singapore office can be arranged at your convenience.
